There lies serenity Ten thousand meters below There's nothing here but urgency Can you feel the loss of hope? Brace Brace Brace This plane is going down Brace Brace Brace No one can save us now Welcome to survival mode May we all find shelter soon Beneath the piercing of anxiety Above the loss of livelihood Brace Brace Brace This ship is going down Brace Brace Brace No one can save us now I wish that I could say more For better or for worse I'm numb to this world But I'm not numb enough We're bored and we're tired And we're lonesome til it hurts I'm ignorant But I'm not dumb enough Here stands recovery It's the beginning, not the end Still in pain but the worst is over Developing resilience Brace Brace Brace The doors are all locked now Brace Brace Brace But you'll find a new way out Brace Brace Brace This ship is going down Brace Brace Brace New love can save you now

You left so soon you forgot your memory I tried to lose my mind but I can't I put your last breath away To save for a lonely day Even though I'm lonely here and now My whole life in a shot glass I can't comprehend the changes I don't call it sober I call it wishing it was over I can't help but know We could have been giants We could have taken over the world I tend to break my heart on purpose I guess it's better than feeling numb But I still hate falling apart Me and my aformentioned broken heart Even though I'm lonely here and now My whole life in the bluegrass And I'm keeping my distance Even still I'm stuck down here forever I can't help but know We could have been giants We could have taken over the world We could have been a force to be reckoned with If I were your man and you were my girl

On the day you had your blood drawn You saw the needle and nearly passed out But you held yourself together Almost made that bastard proud But he turned his back to you His condescension was engaged So I took you in and led you Straight into the days of rage You couldn't have known You couldn't have known these were the last seconds of childhood You couldn't have known You couldn't have known We wouldn't become what we said we would You broke another promise All of our friends broke our hearts We stepped outside together We were next in line for the dark Years later came the violence Years later came the test The last needle you were scared of And the final prayer you kept You couldn't have known You couldn't have known these were the last seconds of childhood You couldn't have known You couldn't have known We wouldn't become what we said we would

Frog Pond 02:33
Long it's been since days of rage Long it's been since times we shared I've got an idea I hope it's not a stretch It's time to put fifteen years to the test Let's go down to frog pond Find solace in the weeds Listen to the soundtrack of nature Find exactly what you need

Seasons don't make sense It used to be colder here But it's so warm these days And all the folks round here Claim the snow won't fall And blame the end of days But I feel something different Like I've been here before The endless summer came We were both singing along We were singing different songs But singing just the same I hate the weather here I wish I was some place else Where the ground is frozen Eating junk food in your trailer Watching the weather on TV While you were dozing I miss those lazy afternoons And Saturday morning cartoons Sometimes I even miss the rain I miss us both singing along We were singing different songs But singing just the same So strike a balance in between The fanatics and the critics Just like you used to do We were such good little prisoners When we were caught between The praise and the abuse Now I don't claim to know it all But I know that winter won't fall Because this weather is insane And I know you'll sing that song And if you sing it on your own You're still singing just the same We were both singing along We were singing different songs But singing just the same

Lighter Sky 07:02
Come along with me if you're tired of the race We're not where we should be but I know a better place I ain't seen it in a while but I imagine it's the same Cause some things never change We can't go there right now But I promise you someday I will take you there when there's a lighter sky When the trees aren't bare, and our cheeks are dry Because the world out there is no friend of mine But come along with me when there's a lighter sky Some folks are bolder and some people stay numb Some say it's colder and some are basking in the sun And some say it's all over but I say it's just begun The dogs are playing dead The cats spend all nine lives But there's a place we can lay our heads And I will take you there when there's a lighter sky

Am I alive? My rotting brain has repressed part of me Have I survived? Have you as well, inside this hopeless dream? Tell me where you are Before I go and get lost somewhere else Tell me where you are Before I go and get lost Am I of sound mind? And will this be my last will and testament? Have I wasted time? I swear I did the worst that I could do Tell me where you are Before I go and get lost somewhere else Tell me where you are Before I go and get lost somewhere Before I go and get lost somewhere else Before I go and get lost...

Terminal 01:54
I thought I had found my way out of here I planned it all out in my mind Only a packed suitcase away But it was all just a waste of time You had to say goodbye So I hope you have an amazing life And every night when I pray I'll pray that you find your own paradise And everything goes your way It's not enough to break my own heart for you It's not enough to do the best that I could do
10.
Surrounded by a fever dream I've got my whole life to myself I'll see you in paradise I'd rather be nowhere else See You In Paradise Whenever you arrive See You In Paradise I swear we'll survive Out with the time clock And in with the tide I'll see you in paradise But I'm alone inside I drink alone with strangers Tequila ginger ale I'll see you in paradise Where heaven's gone stale

Miles 03:39
I'm sick of the TV, so full of violence It overloads my sensory, but it's better than silence But a man needs something other than nonsense on a screen Like the arms of a lover or a change of scenery And me, I am no different, I desire something else Someday, we will end up somewhere Somewhere better than here Somewhere miles away Someday, we will end up somewhere Somewhere better than here Somewhere miles away I'm tired of my phone, vibrating off the rails It won't leave me alone, and then it never fails To send me down a spiral of nothingness and memes Stupidity gone viral, a hundred million streams But me, I just don't care now and I'm desensitized I'm tired of being tired, I'm sick of feeling sick Stressed out and I'm wired from this worn out politic Cause nothing here's worth changing and nothing here seems good Good enough for saving, it lasts longer than it should And me, I am no stranger, no stranger to the fray

about

In January of 2020 I released an album called "Don't Let The Bastard Win." My intention was to get back out there and start performing live shows again considering that I had taken 2019 and most of 2018 off. Of course those plans changed when the COVID-19 pandemic and subsequent lockdown hit, so I had nothing better to do than to write and record yet another brand new album... but I didn't. Instead, I finished college, worked from home at a call center job for a while, and spent my nights drinking and listening to other people's music.

Then in 2021, when things were starting to look bright again, I ditched all the angry and downtrodden songs I wrote during lockdown and began working on a fresh new set of tunes. I also began seeing friends outside of my phone screen again, and recorded a few songs with Brandon Auterson. Not only did he engineer and produce those tracks but he added his own signature slide guitar and bass to the mix. If you hear a song on the record that sounds exceptionally tasteful, that was all him.

The rest of the album was written and recorded (poorly) at home alone but I'm super proud of the results, so like the song says, I swear I did the worst that I could do. This is Mules, I mean uhh... Miles. Enjoy.
