about

The precursor to the song "Pennyroyal" from the Heartland Avenue album. This is a song I wrote for Sixth Gear. Nowhereville was originally talking about the countryside between certain towns and cities in Kentucky. Between Elizabethtown and Hodgenville is technically where I was referencing at that time.

Originally written for Sixth Gear

lyrics

It was many moons ago but it still gives me chills
When I remember how you tasted from here to Nowhereville
With a pennyroyal essence and the fraction of a smile
And the silence of your phone not ringing all this while
You're some kind of clever aren't you?
I'm still waiting for the call
But I'm sick of effortless pacing
Do you remember me at all?
Do you remember me at all?
Well of course you do

Cause no one else would listen to you talk about your mother
How your daddy never cried
And how nobody helped your brother when he couldn't be satisfied
You say I never listened but I heard you pretty well
Cause all your favorite songs still ring inside my head just like a bell
But now it's getting late, but I can still relate
To all the hearts you tamed and all the streets we named

So please don't fade away
Please don't fade away
Cause no one else would listen to you

I'm just another heart you tamed...
